Dr. Crokes 1-20 Kenmare Shamrocks 2-13

It was a tight affair in Fitzgerald stadium on Sunday as we defeated Kenmare by 4 points to be crowned South Kerry champions. We led 1-10 to 1-06 at the interval but faced a tough battle in the second half against a strong wind. Kevin Landers scored our only goal of the game with a fantastic close-range effort in the opening 30 minutes. We extended our lead early in the second half but a second Kenmare goal meant they remained in touching distance for the entire game. Huge scores from distance by Vinny O’Connor and Declan Hickey with Mark Heffernan accurate as ever from the dead ball meant that we ended the year with some richly deserved silverware.
