Well done to our U12 boys who enjoyed a stern test at home against a strong Glenflesk side in the U12 East Kerry League on Thursday evening. Although missing a few regular starters, our boys got stuck in from the start. We spurned a few golden opportunities to raise a green flag in the first half, the boys hit 10 great points. Despite defending resolutely in that period, we were against the breeze and the rain and trailed at the short whistle by a goal. The boys continued to play well following the restart as the game ebbed and flowed. The highlight of the second half were the goals scored - the first was a well worked play finished off with aplomb by Brian McCarthy, and a second was - surely a candidate for goal of the year - a bullet to the top corner by team captain on the night Dara Griffin to see our young guns hold on for a fully deserved split of the spoils.
Dr Crokes Team:
Team: Kacper Robak, Cathal Sugrue, James O’Shea, Sean Kiely, Dara Griffin, Mark O’Carroll, Dara O’Sullivan, Ben Kelliher, Brian McCarthy, Nathan Cronin and Liam Hennigan.
Final score: Dr Crokes 2:15 Glenflesk 4:9
Our Amber team also had a great game v our Glenflesk counterparts, starting with a strong breeze at our backs we dominated early possession with Finn O Donnell & Jake Nash winning good primary ball, but Glenflesk defended well and we were struggling to make the final pass and take our scores. Luke o Shea, Conor Clifford & Sean Collins were playing well across the back line and Micheál Carey tried hard and was very accurate with his kick outs. Brian White, Eanna Hennigan , Kieran Moloney & Killian White kept battling till the end but Glenflesk used the wind advantage better than us and ran out winners by a few points . Thanks to Glenflesk for coming in on what turned out to be a bad night weather wise
