Under 15 Girls County B Championship Final

Our U15 girls had a tremendous victory on Tuesday evening last in the County B Championship Final v Beaufort which was played in the Centre of Excellence in Currans.
Beaufort started brighter, taking an early 2 point lead but once our two Laura’s - Laura O’Carroll (Captain) & Laura O’Shea took control at midfield, they fed some excellent ball in to our forwards, who took their opportunities well in the early stages. With Katie McCarthy raising two green flags & Leah McMahon contributing one goal in this first period, we went in at half time with a commanding lead of 3-8 to 1-4. However, Beaufort took complete control over the next twenty minutes, coming at us at full force bringing the deficit to only 4 points at one stage. Our backs held their own, & led by Emma Kelly, who had a superb performance on the night, our girls turned it completely around again for the last 10 minutes.
With Pia Hickey & Leah McMahon picking off their points and two great goals in this period from Eimear Cronin, our girls eventually pulled away to win comfortably in the end. Great Credit is due to the management team of Karena O’Leary, Brendan O’Connor & Karl McMahon and to the girls themselves as they had to overcome very tough battles to win this competition. Many thanks to the club members for the huge support on the night & it was also great to see Sarra Neher back to her best after her recent injury.

Congratulations to our coach James Fleming who was Assistant Coach to the Irish U20 Ladies Basketball team who won Bronze medal in the European Championships held in Kosova last week.
