Senior County Championship Semi Final Replay
Played in Fitzgerald Stadium
Dr Crokes 1-14 South Kerry 1-08
A strong second half display was instrumental in giving us a six point victory over South Kerry on Sunday last. The injury to Brian Sheehan did not help our opponents chances but over the hour we took our chances the better even though we squandered a few goal chances in the first half.
In the first ten minutes the teams matched each other for scores, both sides sending over two points. A Michael Potts goal in the 11th minute put daylight between the teams but South Kerry outscored us three points to one in the next ten minutes to leave our opponents just one point behind. We got on top in the final ten minutes and had three points without reply to go in at half time 1-6 to 0-5 in front.
We went five points clear in the 34th minute but were shocked by a South Kerry goal which reduced our lead to just two points. We outscored our opponents by three points to one in the next ten minutes to lead by four points. The teams again exchanged points but a point by South Kerry in the 52nd minute reduced our lead to just one score. That goal did not happen for our opponents in the remaining minutes of normal time during which period we added on three points for a 1-14 to 1-08 victory.
This was without doubt our best display in this competition. It was a very collective performance with all our players contributing handsomely. We took our point chances very well and now reach our eight County Final in this decade.
